The National Teaching Council (NTC) is a Government Agency under the Ministry of Education that is mandated by the Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (ACT 1023), to license teachers in Ghana.

The main purpose of the Ghana Teacher Licensing Examination (GTLE) is to enable suitably qualified teachers to join the teaching fraternity.
The professional license will help to recruit only teachers with requisite pedagogical and content knowledge to impact the citizens of Ghana.
According to the National Teaching Council, the current evaluation of the teacher licensing examination will help identify emerging challenges, lessons learned and make recommendations for improvement.
