The Management of the Ghana Education Service has announced the second term reopening date for basic schools in Ghana.

According to the Ghana Education Service 2022/2023 academic calendar for both public and private basic schools in Ghana, the second term of this year’s academic calendar will officially begin on Monday, 3rd April 2023.

Second Term Vacation Date For Basic Schools In Ghana

According to Ghana Education Service 2022/2023 academic calendar, pupils will be in school until June 15, 2023. They will then break from June 16, 2023, to June 26, 2023; with the third term starting from June 27, 2023, to September 14, 2023.

Changes To the 2023 Academic Calendar For Basic Schools

The management of Ghana Education Service is planning every possible to revert to the old academic calendar which was disrupted due to the outbreak of Covid 19.

• There will be 3 full terms this year and 1 term of the next academic year all within this year making 4 terms from January to December 2023.

Term 1- January to March 2023.
Term 2-April to June 2023
Term 3- July to September

• Term 1 for the 2024 academic calendar is from October to December 2023.

Your wards will be promoted from their current class to the next class in October 2023. eg. If your ward is in class 6 now, by October, he will be promoted to JHS 1

• Parents will be required to buy the books for their wards in the 2023/ 2024 academic year in October 2023 instead of January 2024.

Parents are to note that the books they buy in October 2023 will be used by their wards until the end of the 2023 /2024 academic year which would be in August 2024.

• Parents are to note that even though this arrangement will bring discomfort now, it will be a relief to them in January 2024 when they might have been now buying the books for their wards right after the Christmas festivities.

Parents are to note that vacation days within these terms will be very short. Meaning it will be less than two weeks.

• Parents are to plan and prepare adequately for the next 6 to 7 months when these changes mentioned will reach their peak.

When Will Final Year Students Write 2023 BECE?

According to Ghana Education Service, the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination will be written from 7th -11th August 2023 across the approved WAEC exam centers.

The month for registration is June 2023. However, in due time, the Council will announce the exact date for the registration. But for now, all NQT are urged to keep reading widely ahead of the exams.

According to the Induction training, the exams will be seated for in July 2023.

In conclusion, all NQTs are advised to learn all seriously for the exams. Also, Numeracy which is part of the General paper should be treated with care since it has a trend of failure over the years. Focus be laid on basic study areas not higher-level studies because your area of work is Basic Schools (KG, Primary, & JHS).

The G. E.S. has made changes and adjustments to the current academic calendar. Parents are to note the following.

1. The G.E.S. will revert to the old academic calendar.

Speaking at a meeting organized to sensitize service personnel at Keta District he made it known that personnel currently under service will surely benefit from the upcoming increment this year.

According to him, negotiations are ongoing with much progress made so far to increase allowance paid to service personnel. Currently, personnel takes home Ghc559, an amount which many have criticized to be very meager considering the current inflation hikes and economic woes.

He also admonished national service personnel within Keta and Anloga districts to accept the association as their own and not use it as a vigilante group or pressure group.

He concluded by speaking on positive attitudes towards work for service personnel.

The program was also utilized to induct newly elected executives of the association for Keta-Anloga districts into office.

The Municipal chief executive for Keta, Emmanuel Gemega was present and seized the opportunity to encourage personnel to overcome any predicament they may face during their service to Ghana, as they prepare themselves for the world of work.

2022 WASSCE results for privahavecandidates have been released by the West African Examination Council.

2022 WASSCE Results For Private Candidates

The management of the West African Examination Council has released provisional results of 43,742 candidates who entered the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2022 – Second Series.

The entry figure comprises 20,164 males and 23Seventy-six. Seventy-six (76) of the candidates had visual impairment while e two (2) had a hearing impairment.
The results of 901 candidates alleged to have been involved in various cases of examination malpractice have been withheld pending the conclusion of investigations into the cases of malpractice. These malpractices include bringing foreign materials and mobile phones into the examination hall, impersonation n, collusion, and seeking external assistance among others.
The withheld results of candidates will be canceled based on the outcome of investigations. The results are available online at www.waecgh.org.

BECE Guidelines For Private Candidates

Introduction
BECE is both for certification and selection into Senior High Schools and Technical Institutes in Ghana. The results of the examination are based on the external examination.

(2) Qualifications
Two categories of prospective candidates are permitted to register for the examination.

(1) Re-sitters – This consists of candidates who previously sat for BECE but could not make the required grade(s). The candidate must provide his/her index number for the last sitting and the year of the examination.

(2) First-timers – Candidates must be 16 years and above. The candidate will be required to provide his/her date of birth during the registration.

The much-anticipated 2023 SHS placement for BECE graduates has been released today.

According to the information available at our news desk from Ghana Education Service (GES), GES communicated that placement for all 2023 BECE graduates is live and can be via the placement portal.

Management of GES advised that parents should fasten their belts for the purchasing of the needed educational materials for their wards.

Earlier in the news, West African Examination Council (WAEC) released the BECE results for all the candidates who sat for the first external exams in their educational life.

The new BECE graduates should be preparing to enter Senior High School (SHS)/ Vocational /Technical oriented schools after authorities have released the BECE placement.

• Why the delay in the release of the BECE placement?

The delay in the release of the BECE placement is hinged on the late release of the BECE results. The 2022 BECE results were released in late January therefore working on the placement early has been a challenge to GES.

In addition, the government of Ghana wants to increase the enrolment of JHS graduates in SHS this year therefore, the Ministry of Edion needs ample time calculated steps to conduct their placement without any abnormalities that will further delay the resuming of the new SHS 1 students when placements are out by the end of this month, February 2023.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) in their update on BECE placement assured the general public that placement is not a charged exercise. Parents and the public are told to desist from paying persons posing as GES officials /or agents at the Ministry of Education (MoE) that can assist in placing their wards in a Grade A Senior High School (SHS).
